Photography Workshop Announcement
"My purpose is to use my creativity and passion to motivate and inspire others to reach their full potential in pursuit of their goals and dreams."
My personal mission statement (in development)
March 1, 2007
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you may recall that I mentioned some big news a few entries ago. Well, I am following up on that entry today. I have been invited to co-facilitate a workshop for photographers at the Okanagan Photographic Arts Workshop, August 10-12, 2007. If you know me as a teacher, a consultant, a photographer and a dreamer, you will appreciate how important an opportunity this is. I will be working with Judy Burns, a photographer and multi-media artist, who invited me to join her in this project. We have an exciting agenda planned for our workshop entitled "Capture and Communicate Your Creative Vision." (The workshop website has just been updated - you can find a course description and instructor biographies at www.opaw.org or click the link just to the right of this entry.)
I have chosen this image to accompany my good news for a special reason. It was taken at one of my favourite places and times, during a workshop led by Freeman Patterson and Andre Gallant in New Brunswick (2005). When I look at it, I am transported through time and space to a creative and generous learning environment where I have grown tremendously, both as a photographer and as a person. I am looking forward to combining my teaching skills with my own photography in my pursuit of my goals and dreams.
Over the past several months, I have received emails from two of my former high school students in Toronto. Their words of gratitude have in turn inspired and motivated me. It is remarkable how things come around full circle. It is hard to believe that the tenth anniversary of my departure from teaching is coming up in May. In truth, I have never stopped teaching; only the environment and the students have changed. I'm looking forward to this next progression. It will be wonderful to apply my passion to my passion.
